Patient Access Representative Convenient Care Specialist

As a Patient Access Representative Convenient Care Specialist at Geisinger Health System, you will be responsible for providing front-line support to the department. Your key responsibilities will include coordinating and performing front-line office activities in an effective and efficient manner. You will greet and register incoming patients, support the patient check-out process, and schedule future appointments as applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient demographics and ensure all check-in procedures are completed.
- Monitor patient wait times and communicate changes to the patient as necessary.
- Read and interpret insurance responses to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
- Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtain necessary legal and financial signatures, and communicate financial obligations.
- Process multi-channel messages related to patient and/or physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
- Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibility and collect accordingly.
- Perform cash posting following department guidelines and maintain high regard for confidentiality.
- Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases, and assist with referrals and pre-certifications.
- Properly utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
This role is typically performed in an office environment, and you will be accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
Requirements:
A High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) is required, and a minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred. You will also need to possess excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
