Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maritime Operations Officer to join our team at Centerline Logistics Corporation.

About the Role:

This is a key position that will oversee the safe and efficient operation of our tug and barge fleet. As a second-in-command, you will be responsible for understanding and carrying out orders and directions from the Captain, as well as being prepared to assume command in the event of incapacity.

You will be responsible for safely making and breaking tow with barges, handling lines and wires, and maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of the vessel.

Responsibilities:
  • Stand wheelhouse watch alternating with the Captain.
  • Oversee the safety of the vessel, including all installed equipment and inspections thereof.
  • Maintain chart and publication corrections.
  • Instruct Deckhands in seamanship skills.
  • Assist the Captain in barge landings and communicate distances and directions accurately and concisely.
  • Determine the need for and assign lookouts as necessary.
  • Inspect for cleanliness of the vessel.
  • Inventory supplies and order as appropriate.
  • Monitor onboard usage to ensure supplies are utilized efficiently.
Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Mate or Master of a tug hauling oil barges.
  • Minimum 200 Ton Mate Near Coastal USCG license with towing endorsement.
  • Radar observer endorsement required.
  • Must have Coast Guard approved firefighting training.
  • Must be able to communicate in English and direct workers effectively.
  • Must be able to train assigned workers.
  • Must be able to fairly evaluate subordinates.
  • Must be able to understand and use information in cargo information cards and material safety data sheets.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English over telephone and/or radio.
  • Must be able to instruct Deckhand on use of all tools and machinery onboard vessel.
  • Valid First aid/CPR certificates.
  • Complete HAZWOPER training within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid state drivers license.
Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per yearBenefits:
