Naval Architect II

Essential Functions:



  • Provides engineering and design services under the direction of senior naval architects and project managers.


  • Engineering work includes vessel design, structural design and analysis, stability analysis, and regulatory analysis.


  • Supports engineering services for international and domestic marine transportation projects, including heavy sealift and vessel modification plans.


  • Provides naval architecture support for civil engineering and construction clients for design and construction of inland and marine infrastructure projects.


  • Supports the development of vessel construction and modification projects for Foss Maritime and other operating companies.


  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.



    • Strong engineering background and experience with work supervised under senior engineers.


    • Excellent communication skills with clients, internal divisions, and staff.


    • General knowledge of commercial vessels.


    • Ability to support development of vessel arrangements and perform feasibility and concept-level design of marine vessels.


    • Ability to generate vessel design and modification drawings using AutoCAD or other software.


    • General understanding of U.S. Coast Guard and marine classification society rules and regulatory requirements.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in naval architecture.


  • Masters degree in naval architecture is highly desirable.


  • Washington EIT or similar registration is highly desirable.
