American Sign Language Interpreter- Community Specialist

Job SummaryWe are seeking part-time Deaf and hearing community interpreters to provide high-quality interpretation services in multiple locations. As an interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between our customers and the Deaf community.
Responsibilities- Hearing interpreters will effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English, while Deaf interpreters will interpret between ASL, Tactile American Sign Language, other forms of visual communication, and written English.
- You will adhere to Sorenson's policies and procedures, as well as the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
- Providing excellent customer service is essential, along with maintaining a respectful and professional attitude towards customers and colleagues.
- Work effectively in a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues.
- A high school diploma or GED is required, with an associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not necessary.
- An interpreter certification is also required, along with 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred).
- Ability to pass our required skills assessment, as well as travel independently in the metropolitan area.
- Flexible scheduling allows you to pick and choose which work you want to do.
- We offer pay for both cancelled assignments and replacement assignments that occur during the same time frame.
- Parking, tolls, and mileage reimbursement are provided for all assignments.
- Travel time is also compensated when it occurs between other Sorenson community assignments.
- Differentials are offered for Night, Graveyard, Weekend, and Legal assignments.
- Taxes are withheld, and Direct Deposit is used for payment.

The estimated salary range for this position is $25-$60 per hour, depending on location, education, and certifications. With a minimum of 10 hours of interpreting services required per month, you can expect a competitive hourly rate based on your qualifications and experience.
