Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Technician I or II to join our team at the City of Arvada. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and fabricating traffic signs and pavement markings to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and remove traffic signs and pavement markings on city roads and highways
  • Design and fabricate traffic signs using a computerized fabrication system
  • Maintain a daily log of detailed information related to signs, including location, sign type, material used, and direction
  • Assist in the setup of speed monitoring devices and data collection equipment
  • Operate a gas-powered post driver, hydraulic post puller, and other equipment as needed
  • Work in a team environment to ensure the safe and efficient completion of projects
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of experience in traffic sign installation and maintenance or related field preferred
  • Valid Colorado driver's license and acceptable driving record required
  • Ability to lift and move heavy traffic signs and equipment
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of construction practices and tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial driver's license
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
