Job Summary

Parrish Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Orthopedic Registered Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our medical surgical department, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough physical and psychosocial assessments of patients, including growth and development, and record and analyze patient medical history, symptoms, and conditions.
  • Administer medications, infusion therapy, and treatments utilizing evidence-based safety procedures and bar code scanning.
  • Lead and coordinate patient care, initiating care plans and planning daily care with the team, patient, and family, while coordinating care with multidisciplinary team members to meet patient educational and discharge planning needs.
  • Supervise and delegate duties of other healthcare personnel, such as Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Aides, and Patient Care Sitters, while utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to implement direct patient care and treatments.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of planned interventions in relation to patient responses and the attainment of expected outcomes, documenting and communicating actions to maintain continuity among the nursing team.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare team members, including the person/family to actively participate in face-to-face bedside handoff/handover report, and communicate in SBAR format for all handoff/handover reports and changes in patient status to the Care Provider/physician, Clinical Coordinator, or Charge Nurse.
  • Document patient care in a concise, pertinent, and legible manner, on the appropriate form and according to accepted standards, providing nursing care in an organized, timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of patient education, instructing patients and families on topics such as health education, disease prevention, and developing individualized health improvement programs to help patients make informed decisions about their health and treatment.
  • Participate in Quality Monitoring/Performance Improvement, incorporating Evidence-Based practices into daily care.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Graduate of an RN education program (accredited preferred).
  • At least 1 year experience.
  • State of Florida RN licensure required.
  • BLS through American Heart Association required.
  • NIH certification required.
  • ACLS or PALS or NRP certification preferred.
