Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Orthopedic Coordinator to join our team at Parrish Health Network. As a key member of our Perioperative Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Orthopedic surgery department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Orthopedic surgery schedule, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing delays.
  • Order and maintain inventory of instruments and accessories, as well as ancillary supplies related to Orthopedic surgery.
  • Maintain and update Operating Room (OR)/Hospital protocols related to Orthopedic surgery, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Manage and update preference cards, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for surgical teams.
  • Coordinate OR room set up for Orthopedic procedures, ensuring timely and efficient start times.
  • Provide in-service training to OR Nursing and SPD staff on pre-, intra-, and post-operative management of Orthopedic surgery.
  • Clinical troubleshooting and coordination of efficient and organized surgical team set up for procedures.
  • Assist as scrub nurse or first assistant at the patient side, as needed.
  • Supervise the preparation and positioning of patients, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Maintain records of surgical procedure pathways and guidelines, as well as document procedure results and assist with procedure data collection and management.
  • Target and support new surgeons interested in Orthopedic surgery, developing and maintaining a clinical pathway for Orthopedic surgery surgical teams.
Requirements
  • Vocational or technical school certification, training, or apprenticeship required beyond high school.
  • 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • First Assistant certification preferred.
