Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Budget/Business Analyst to join our team at the University of Southern California. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Finance Department in various administrative tasks, including budget preparation, financial analysis, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the preparation of administrative components of proposals, ensuring compliance with sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.
  • Develop, prepare, and finalize project budgets, providing budget justification.
  • Serve as a liaison between principal investigators, Office of Sponsored Research, research groups, and other departments, responding to sponsor inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up properly and cost-sharing requirements are fulfilled.
  • Review and approve expenditures, advising on post-award spending and commitment activity.
  • Oversee compliance related to fund and revenue, developing and communicating reports supporting project status.
  • Participate in contract closeout process, submitting final reports and certificates.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or related field.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of automated spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of government and fund accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in university budget experience and knowledge of university financial systems.
