Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Budget Analyst to join our team at Jefferson County, Colorado. As a key member of our Strategy, Planning & Analysis Division, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our county budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex financial and analytical work related to overall county budget functions, including budget review and analysis, and other complex analyses.
  • Evaluate the impact of new or proposed programs and legislation on our budget, and coordinate activities with other departments, divisions, and outside agencies.
  • Assist in the development of budgetary policies and the implementation of best practices, and evaluate and develop recommendations related to resource allocation decisions.
  • Monitor and analyze budget to actual revenue and expenditure variances, and prepare analytical assessments related to countywide initiatives.
  • Work with department heads and elected and appointed officials to develop performance measures and seek ongoing cost efficiencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, public finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of related work experience in government or non-profit budgeting, including budget analysis, preparation, and oversight for a large organization.
  • Advanced Excel skillset with the ability to perform calculations and automation, graphs and presentations, statistical modeling, forecasting, and prediction in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Experience in public budget/finance, fund accounting, and TABOR experience a plus.
  • Workday or other ERP software experience.
