Job Overview

As our team scales, we're seeking a hands-on Cloud Engineering Manager to join our Cloud Engineering Leadership. You'll lead a team of talented software engineers who are responsible for a critical collection of cloud applications and services that power Hayden AI's products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership
    • Motivate and inspire a high-performing team to achieve exceptional results.
    • Provide actionable feedback to help team members grow and develop.
    • Set clear goals and expectations for team members and hold them accountable.
  • Execution and Delivery
    • Establish and run a day-to-day process within the team to ensure high-quality product delivery.
    • Pragmatically combine elements of different software development methodologies to achieve efficient and effective results.
    • Mitigate risks, eliminate bottlenecks, and focus relentlessly on productivity.
  • Product Development
    • Collaborate with Product Management and Customer Success organizations to define and deliver high-quality products.
    • Work closely with engineers to design and develop cloud applications and services.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Lead from the front and be hands-on with technical aspects of product development.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and trends.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 recent years in front-line management.
  • Expertise in Golang or Python.
  • A strong understanding of distributed systems, databases (PostgreSQL), and event-driven programming (Kafka, SQS, SNS).
  • Exposure to frontend development technologies (e.g., React).
  • Experience with AWS/cloud technologies (Terraform, EKS/K8s, S3, EC2, Cognito, RDS, etc.) (a plus).
  • Strong people skills: empathy, conflict resolution, mentorship, and team building.
