Peer Recovery Support Specialist

Comprehensive Healthcare is seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist to provide outreach and support to individuals experiencing addiction to opioids or an overdose crisis. As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, you will develop trust and rapport with local emergency departments, shelters, and encampments, connecting individuals to treatment and housing resources to meet their recovery goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage and develop relationships of trust with opioid-dependent individuals in the community, including visiting local hospitals, shelters, and other areas.
- Establish rapport and build motivation by sharing your own personal experiences with substance use disorder and recovery.
- Share resources and referrals for local housing and treatment programs.
- Support the safety and well-being of individuals with substance use disorders by encouraging recovery.
- Assess clients for safety and risk to self or others, and take appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be a self-identified consumer of substance use disorder treatment services in stable recovery for at least one year.
- Eligible for Peer Counselor certification provided by the Washington State Healthcare Authority.
- Must be eligible for registration as Agency Affiliated Counselor.
- Must have valid driver's license, vehicle liability insurance, and three years of safe driving experience.
