Parkhurst Dining Operations Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dining service department, ensuring that standards are maintained for food quality, service, sanitation, cash handling, and supervision of team members. This includes scheduling, discipline, and maintaining a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise team members in their area of responsibility, consulting with management to make changes as needed to improve services.
Follow established Parkhurst and client policies and procedures, upholding standards and communicating using Smile Plus skills and coaching team members on their use of the Smile Plus hospitality imperatives.
Assist in purchasing foods and supplies, maintaining presence in service areas to assess customer satisfaction levels and resolve problems, and communicating findings to management.
Ensure practices and procedures comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, following human resource policies and procedures, and treating team members with fairness and respect.
Have input into hiring, performance appraisal, and discipline of staff under management oversight, orienting and training staff, and presenting in-service training programs as needed.
Communicate to staff regularly, both formally and informally, holding team meetings to ensure staff awareness of department activities, and assisting management in keeping team members aware of any changes in policies and procedures.
Serves as a role model for team members by maintaining standards for appearance, dress, attendance, and professional behavior, enforcing safety standards with team members, and reporting safety problems to management.
Ensure sanitation standards are enforced, monitoring cleaning procedures, and maintaining morale on their shift through a sense of urgency, professionalism, and team building, resolving team member conflicts as needed.
May assist in the planning and execution of catered events in conjunction with other team members, and may open and close the department, demonstrating responsibility for department security.
Performs hands-on tasks as required by the operation, and maintains a plan for self-development and professional growth.
Qualifications:
Six or more years of professional experience with four or more years in a food service role.
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Culinary, Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent job-related experience.
Ability to perform basic math calculations, organize workloads, and meet time deadlines, and possess supervisory and team management skills.
