As an MFIP Employment Support Counselor, you will play a crucial role in assisting participants of the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) in their journey towards self-sufficiency. This position involves comprehensive case management, coordination of support services, and fostering connections between various assistance programs while empowering individuals to achieve their career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workshop Facilitation: Lead group career development workshops using established curricula, adapting materials to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with colleagues to design, assess, and enhance programs that meet the workforce needs of the community.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and professional growth activities to enhance your skills and meet development objectives.
  • Outreach: Promote awareness of Goodwill's programs through presentations and engagement with local employers and educational institutions.
  • Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with participants to ensure engagement and facilitate collaboration with community partners.
  • Case Management: Conduct assessments and provide personalized services to help individuals navigate their career paths, including job search assistance and resume support.
  • Data Management: Document client interactions and maintain accurate records in compliance with organizational policies and data privacy regulations.
  • Organizational Culture: Contribute to a workplace that values diversity, integrity, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding systemic barriers to employment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in resume and cover letter writing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and data tracking systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience

  • A degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in career counseling or case management is desirable.

Physical Requirements

This role involves sitting for extended periods, with occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds and the ability to communicate effectively in various settings.
