Job Summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is a 100% employee-owned research and development, rapid prototyping, and product manufacturing firm located in Randolph, VT. We are seeking a Staff Mechanical Facilities Engineer at the Integrated Products Division of ARA. This position involves the design, implementation, and optimization of mechanical systems within facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and utilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in facilities management and energy conservation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess existing mechanical systems and processes within facilities to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize mechanical processes, reduce energy consumption, and enhance overall facility performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute projects aimed at improving mechanical system reliability and efficiency.
  • Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for facility upgrades, retrofits, and expansions.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Design and implement preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to mechanical engineering and facilities management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on facilities management, preferably in industrial or commercial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, process equipment, and utilities.
  • Experience with facility energy management, including energy audits, HVAC optimization, and implementation of energy conservation measures.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with building management systems and energy monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and ASME.
