Position Summary:
The Senior Architect (R.A) will oversee the comprehensive management of projects from initial proposal through to completion. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including conducting feasibility studies, programming, schematic design, and the preparation of construction documents. The selected candidate will coordinate closely with clients, vendors, consultants, and contractors, ensuring seamless communication and project execution. This position also involves leading and mentoring team members, reporting directly to the Principals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all phases of project design and execution.
  • Direct and mentor team members, both within the firm and externally.
  • Manage multiple projects of varying complexity and stages, from design to construction.
  • Develop and sketch innovative design concepts and details.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of drawings and specifications for coordination and feasibility.
  • Prepare comprehensive specifications and project manuals for bidding and construction.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulations throughout all project phases.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings with contractors and clients.
  • Conduct field investigations and verify existing conditions.
  • Maintain organized project files, data, and reports.
  • Adhere to project schedules, deadlines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage full sets of contract documents.
  • Engage with sub-consultants, reviewing proposals and ensuring compliance with design intent.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and financial controls.
  • Participate in client presentations and project interviews.

Qualifications:

  • MA Architectural Registration with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with MA Public Procurement Regulations is preferred.
  • Experience in both new construction and renovation of existing buildings.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and BIM software.
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local building codes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to apply practical problem-solving skills in complex situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to design within budget constraints.
  • Interest in mentoring junior staff and fostering team development.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on career advancement.
