Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Lead to join our team at Atkore International. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing domestic and international payrolls with speed and accuracy, ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and prepare payroll data, including garnishments, mandatory withholdings, and deductions.
  • Utilize automated systems to produce accurate and timely payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws for union and non-union employees.
  • Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee pay-related inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger and prepare reports/statements summarizing payroll-related accounts.
  • Audit employee pay records and reconcile totals by department, location, etc.
  • Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations for payroll and payroll-related accounts in the general ledger.
  • Assist with audits of internal records, tax filings, and related documentation.
  • Look for ways to improve and develop efficiencies and maintain Standard Operation Procedures for payroll processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of payroll administration experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Multistate payroll experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information and develop a recommendation and plan of action.
  • High degree of integrity and commitment.
  • Ability to handle information of a confidential nature and ensure that such information is secured and maintained in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to identify and recommend changes to payroll processes and/or systems.
  • Ability to perform ad hoc reporting and other tasks as needed in a demanding financial environment.
  • A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of employees as well as other parties/stakeholders involved with the company.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks requiring strong attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in working with payroll systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in payroll platforms such as UKG, ADP, Ceridian is desired.
  • A customer focus which demonstrates proactive, responsive services.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
