The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the facility operates efficiently and effectively. This involves performing a wide range of repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and direct project work in the instrumentation and controls department. Facility repairs and maintenance can be performed internally or by an outside contractor, depending on the shop workload or the complexity of the required repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule, plan, and direct work activities of projects to meet customer needs and requirements.
- Plan, organize, and direct work activities of sub-contractors, customers, and company personnel at the facility.
- Design, review, and revise project schedules as changing site activities dictate to meet projected deadlines.
- Coordinate engineering changes between company engineering staff and customer personnel.
- Provide necessary technical engineering input to facilitate changes in a timely manner.
- Schedule, plan, direct, and participate in mechanical and electrical inspections to ensure company-provided equipment meets design specifications.
- Coordinate engineering changes as necessary to correct non-conforming issues.
- Secure and maintain company-assigned equipment for use at the job site.
- Document site activities for support of customer invoicing, engineering feedback, and ongoing project completion.
- Document all revisions and "as-builts" during the start-up phase.
- Provide technical feedback to company engineering and project management groups to facilitate design reviews and track project performance.
- Respond proactively to customer requests or concerns in a manner that builds trust and confidence with the customer and colleagues within the company.
- Maintain active contact with other departments, which is positive and supportive of that group's planning and budget objectives.
- Allocate time efficiently and effectively, keeping track of critical information, schedules, and deadlines.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in accordance with guidelines established by the Company/OSHA.
- Ensure daily/weekly/monthly reporting, as well as any other general correspondence, is communicated accurately, concisely, and in a form appropriate to the target audience.
- High School Diploma required; Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present to peers and management.
- Highly adaptable and able to work independently or as part of a team, with limited required direction and guidance.
- Experience performing multiple projects and collaborating with varying team members.
- Prior experience in the Engineering design, and/or commercial industrial manufacturing industry is helpful.
- 30 hour OSHA General Industry training a plus.
- Five (5) years experience in the same or a related field.
- Valid in-state driver's license. Driving record must meet acceptable company standards and be maintained as such in order to operate a vehicle while on company business.
- Ability to read and interpret computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation pertaining to specifications of components and materials.
- Ability to program a programmable logic controller for process control and operations.
- Working knowledge of business-related software packages (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, etc.); exposure to MRP/ERP systems preferred.
- Mathematics-Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
- Considerable knowledge of continuous emissions monitoring equipment for measurement of process source emissions.
- Considerable knowledge of safe handling, storage, and operations of equipment that utilizes hazardous chemicals.
- Considerable knowledge of rotating equipment, including dampers, actuators, controls, and seal air fans.
- Considerable knowledge of safe handling, storage, and operations of material handling equipment.
- English Language-Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
