Role Summary:

The Capture Manager plays a pivotal role in steering the strategy, leadership, and execution of capture-related initiatives within the aerospace and defense sectors.

  • Key responsibilities encompass identifying, managing, and executing strategic capture campaigns aligned with the Business Development and Annual Operating Plan objectives.
  • Lead business development capture efforts and teams to secure new contracts.
  • Formulate capture strategies, including business solutions for pursuing opportunities; assess potential customers, conduct competitive analyses, identify teaming suppliers, and develop pricing strategies; engage in bid and proposal activities while maintaining ongoing collaboration with marketing and government relations.
  • Oversee cost, schedule, and performance metrics for specific capture activities within all assigned capture and proposal initiatives. Work is evaluated for effectiveness in achieving business development and capture pipeline goals.
  • Ensure adherence to sound capture management practices and processes in compliance with company policies and quality standards.
  • Facilitate coordination of capture and proposal activities across various functional teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for proposal activities with customers.
  • Gather relevant business and market intelligence pertinent to assigned capture projects.
  • Lead assessments of customer needs and competitive landscapes, identifying key differentiators and win themes, along with pricing strategies.
  • Guide a cross-functional team through a structured capture process, ensuring alignment with budget and schedule commitments while securing support from internal stakeholders.
  • Direct proposal efforts and reviews, ensuring effective integration of differentiators and win strategies into proposal submissions.
  • Develop and articulate innovative and compelling solutions that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities associated with assigned projects.
  • Conduct after-action reviews to capture lessons learned and enhance capture management and related business development processes.
  • Support the Business Development team in fostering mutually beneficial relationships with partners and customers.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or Business Management discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Business Development or Capture Management.
  • Familiarity with Commercial and US Government contracts and associated acquisition processes.
  • Experience in competitive pricing strategies and cost proposal development.
  • Willingness to support on-site activities and travel (travel < 40%).
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master's degree in STEM or Business Administration/Management.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, leadership, communication (written, oral, presentation), negotiation, and influencing skills, complemented by a balanced technical, financial, and business acumen.
  • Domain expertise in aerostructures and/or structural components of airframes and space systems.
  • Proven track record in leading pursuits/captures and/or business development programs exceeding $50M.
  • Experience working with Department of Defense customers.
  • Strong professional network within the aerospace industry.
