Essential Functions:

  • Patient Interaction: Engage with patients to elucidate the testing process and address any inquiries to secure accurate outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, departmental personnel, and other healthcare professionals to assess and adjust testing protocols as necessary.
  • Team Support: Actively participate as a team member, readily assisting colleagues and fostering a positive workplace atmosphere.
  • Training: Mentor and guide less experienced technologists when appropriate.

Service Excellence:

  • Ensure precise testing by organizing materials and supplies in designated areas before patient arrival.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge to identify required procedures and equipment based on physician directives.
  • Prepare patients by applying various surface electrodes as needed for testing and obtain standard recordings as instructed.

Quality and Safety:

  • Identify and rectify artifacts, minimizing electrical interference and documenting any abnormal clinical findings observed during tests.
  • Perform calibration of electromyography (EMG) equipment for standard recordings and ensure proper maintenance of EMG needles and related tools.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for enhancement and collaborating with the interprofessional team.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Work with physicians to ensure accurate coding and charge capture while managing equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Exhibit effective time management skills, prioritizing daily tasks and responsibilities.

Growth and Innovation:

  • Lead departmental initiatives due to advanced expertise, including participation in research projects.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous learning and skill enhancement, regularly updating personal development plans.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited electro-neurodiagnostic technology program.
  • Three years of experience in a clinical or hospital environment performing various electrodiagnostic procedures.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (ABEM) or Registered Nerve Conduction Technologist (AAET).
  • Basic Life Support (AHA) certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate the necessary skills and competencies to safely perform assigned duties.
  • Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal, essential for patient and employee safety.
  • Ability to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and team members, applying customer service principles.
  • Competence in using computers and neurodiagnostic equipment.

Work Attire: Uniform and scrubs are required.
