The Tax team in Torrance is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to lead our dynamic group of tax professionals. This position will oversee the team responsible for completing all client tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

The selected candidate will maintain strong relationships with our clients and serve as a liaison between staff and Partners, providing exceptional support and guidance.

This position will be responsible for various tax initiatives and tax planning strategies, including:

  • Reviewing and signing corporation, partnership, individual, and trust tax returns and tax projections, including multi-state returns.
  • Corresponding with state and federal government agencies regarding client tax notifications.
  • Providing guidance and support to tax staff and other team members with relevant tax and software questions.
  • Assisting with document gathering efforts for state and federal audits.
  • Ensuring all tax returns, extensions, and relevant filings are completed and filed by deadlines.
  • Ensuring all tax planning related payments are made on time.
  • Identifying and researching tax issues applicable to client transactions.
  • Mentoring staff towards the achievement of internal and personal goals.
  • Attending client meetings with Partners to build and manage client relationships.

This role requires in-depth knowledge of tax concepts and regulations related to individuals, C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts, as well as strong working knowledge of tax return workflow and ability to adapt.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues, perform research, and demonstrate critical thinking to implement tax advice related to new legislation and planning.

Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, are also essential.

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field, along with 3.5+ years of experience leading a team of tax professionals and 7+ years of related tax experience at a public accounting firm or family office, is required.

Extensive experience with real estate and partnership tax compliance and consulting is preferred.
