Job Title: Tractor Trailer Driver

The Tractor Trailer Driver will operate a tractor-trailer truck on assigned routes to service customers in a safe and efficient manner. Delivering collected solid waste or recyclables to landfills, MRFs, or transfer stations is a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate the tractor-trailer truck and on-board hydraulic systems on assigned routes to collect solid waste and/or recyclables.
  • Ensure each load is secure by checking the tarp is closed properly and no loose trash is visible.
  • Empty the trailer when dumping a load and provide the CSR with the trailer number and net weight.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck reports, route sheets, and other documentation requested by the supervisor daily.
  • Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to the mechanic and supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain route quality standards as predetermined by management.
  • Operate the truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
  • Follow all safety standards, equipment checks, and precautions in the performance of all duties.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle by cleaning the cab interior and exterior.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Report all accidents or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner, and appearance at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed.
  • Work closely with the supervisor to improve routing efficiencies.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is desired.
  • A valid Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate is required.
  • Ability to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe driving and equipment operation skills.
Physical/Mental Demands:
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
  • Visual ability to perform close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and a wide range of visual tasks.
