Job Title: School Director

Atlantis Academy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of instructional practices and strategies that support student achievement and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide vision and leadership to support student achievement and effective operations by supervising staff, developing and implementing performance management plans, identifying professional learning needs, and participating in professional learning opportunities.
  • Effectively participate in the employment and selection process to ensure an effective site team is in place.
  • Provide guidance, consultation, and assistance to teachers in the development of classroom schedules, maintenance of student data systems, and facilitation of student transition plans to assure appropriate schedules and services based on each student's individual goals.
  • Consult with and assist teachers in the classroom with teaching students social, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Provide supervision through assigning work, helping create personal development plans, consistently monitoring and evaluating employee effectiveness, and communicating and coaching employee development.
  • Actively recognize accomplishments and address issues to ensure productive site operations.
  • Ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff by maintaining site and classroom operations and following guidelines for addressing/reporting issues and incidents.
  • Perform managerial responsibilities including but not limited to overseeing the day-to-day operation of school schedule and activities, custodial and maintenance, food services, transportation services, administration, financial/budgetary operations, resource allocation, and district/community relationships.
  • Represent Atlantis Academy through communication and collaboration with families, district, and community members.
  • Analyze the professional development needs of staff and aligning implementation with the instructional vision of Atlantis Academy.
  • Instruct, monitor, and evaluate teachers and students in the use of learning materials and equipment to ensure fidelity of instruction and student performance/evaluation.
  • Observe, evaluate, and report staff and student performance and development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, updating all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law and Atlantis policies.
  • Compile and analyze assessment data to measure student growth, guide instruction, and/or determine academic intervention for each student and site.
  • Model and oversee the implementation of Atlantis identified instructional practices and strategies that facilitate active learning experiences and support the instructional vision for the site.
  • Manage student behavior in the program using positive behavior interventions and supports.
  • Participate in the assurance and accreditation processes to ensure that the site passes or meets performance plans.
  • Keep up to date with research-based practices and developments in subject area.
  • Provide, solicit, and respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with site team, field level support, and national support for the good of the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, educational leadership, or a closely related field of study.
  • Effective management skills and comprehensive knowledge of administrative and school operations, functions, and enrollment standards.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with autism spectrum disorders and/or related disabilities.
  • Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in the development, assessment, and management of curriculum, content areas, and instruction in a classroom setting.
  • Prior experience and highly skilled in providing professional development and/or coaching to teachers.
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals and next steps.
  • Highly skilled in building relationships with students, parents, teachers, and community and/or business partners.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff members, students, parents, customers, and the public.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, effectively prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining organization and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates self-confidence, focuses on execution, and finds motivation in their impact to the organization.
  • Well-versed in the use of relevant technology, including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in education, special education, or educational leadership.
  • Current FL educator certification with endorsement in special education, student services, or a closely related subject.
  • Licensed currently or have the ability to obtain an educational leadership, school principal, administrator, or related credential.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience working in an educational leadership or administration role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Florida's school choice scholarship programs.
