Job Summary

As a Commissary Industrial Cook at Northgate Market, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our food products. Your primary responsibility will be to execute daily production work as per the Production Manager's schedule, following company policies and procedures. You will be responsible for preparing and batching raw materials, dried goods, proteins, and miscellaneous WIPs for cooking or mixing of all finished goods.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Production Manager in executing daily production scheduling of the entire facility.
  2. Execute the lock-out/tag-out program in your area of responsibility.
  3. Chop, dice, slice, mince, weigh, mix, and batch all product formulations according to recipes.
  4. Execute HACCP under the direction of the Quality Assurance team.
  5. Follow formula procedural steps rigidly, never deviating from the recipe.
  6. Practice safety procedures as per training in the handling of all process equipment.
  7. Work in conjunction with the Sanitation team to operate equipment in proper sanitary conditions, as per Company's SSOPs.
  8. Report immediately any unsafe equipment or malfunction. Work in conjunction with the Maintenance department to maintain a preventive maintenance program in each piece of equipment in the kitchen.
  9. Responsible for your safety and the well-being of plant associates.
  10. Execute the quality assurance program as per company standards.
  11. Responsible for keeping the work area or assembly line in optimum sanitation condition and ensures that all SOPs, HACCP & SSOPs are executed as planned.
  12. Follow company standards in the execution of the allergen program and immediately report any deviation.
  13. Fills all paperwork with accuracy related to temperature checks, traceability, and sequential process.
  14. Conducts all formula batching with precision and double-checks all weights and measures. Records in recipe every procedural step.
  15. Ensures that all scales and thermometers are properly calibrated and sanitized before use.
  16. Rigorously executes the GMPs standard operating procedure.
  17. Prevents and reports immediately any potential cross-contamination situation.
Requirements
  1. Must have a food handlers' certification.
  2. Must have a willingness to learn and follow direction.
  3. Must have a very strong Customer Service commitment.
  4. Must have critical thinking with basic problem-solving skills and be able to work independently or in a team environment.
  5. Basic knowledge on Food manufacturing & processing.
  6. Understands the ability to work prep production lines or stations with hands-on.
  7. Ability to understand and effectively communicate the daily production requirements.
  8. Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high-output environment.
  9. Able to demonstrate attention to detail and follow through in all areas of responsibility.
  10. Must be able to lift 30 Lbs. frequently and 40 Lbs. occasionally; stand, reach, climb, and lift frequently.
  11. Must be able to work with others and coordinate production with co-workers.
  12. Must work with minimum or no supervision.
  13. Must have an excellent attendance record, reliable, and flexible when seasonal work is occasionally required.
  14. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education and/or Experience
  1. 1+ years' demonstrated manufacturing & processing supervisory experience in roles of increasing responsibility demonstrating the ability to achieve results.
  2. High School diploma desirable but not a must.
Language Skills
  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to read, write, and speak English satisfactorily to perform the essential functions.
  2. Bilingual English Spanish highly desirable.
Mathematical Skills
  1. Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts for formulation and assembly.
Reasoning Ability
  1. Ability to define problems, collect data. Establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
  1. Basic ability to understand batching process.
Work Environment
  1. The kitchen environment may be subject to extreme temperatures with exposure to heat, water, noise, and some chemicals.
