Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dietitian to join our team at Sodus Rehab & Nursing Center. As a Dietitian, you will play a vital role in ensuring the nutritional well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the nutritional status of residents, including laboratory data, fluid status, energy, and protein needs.
  • Evaluate and interpret data, review and modify plans of care, and deliver nutrition care to residents.
  • Provide nutrition-related information and technical assistance through meal rounds, test trays, menu checks, and other services as needed.
  • Accurately assess, plan, and deliver nutrition care to residents fed by enteral means.
  • Prepare residents for self-management of nutrition care.
  • Develop and implement Quality Assurance and Improvement processes within the facility.
  • Consult with the Food Service Director to develop appropriate therapeutic diets.
  • Make referrals as necessary to other healthcare providers.
  • Complete other duties to support departmental operations as assigned or requested.
  • Participate in inspections conducted by authorized agencies.
  • Provide safe resident nutritional care while demonstrating knowledge and competency in ordering nutritional interventions, and in accordance with physician/NP orders, according to established standards and policies.
  • Maintain awareness of new updates/standards and incorporate them into their nutritional practice throughout the continuum of care.
  • Assist coworkers as needed and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues.
  • Exhibit professional conduct and behavior through cooperative interactions with others and accept personal responsibility for their own actions.
  • Report any change in condition of a resident to the appropriate nursing supervisor.
  • Report any resident care issues to the appropriate nursing supervisor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States, and completion of a program in nutrition or dietetics with the appropriate national accreditation.
  • Certification as a dietitian or nutrition professional in NY State once requirements met.
  • One to three years' direct care experience with one to two years' experience in long-term care.
  • Professional licensure and certification required: Certification in dietetics-nutrition in New York State, or successful completion of the Registered Dietitian examination offered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or Certified Nutrition Specialist exam offered by the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists are acceptable.
