Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rotor Wing Pilot to join our team at Air Methods. As a key member of our flight crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within our assigned operational area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM).
  • Complete pre-flight checks before every flight, verifying the aircraft's airworthiness and signing off on the Daily Flight Log.
  • Perform a thorough walk-around inspection of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit for flight and upon completion of each flight.
  • Exercise final authority regarding aircraft operations and passenger, cargo, and equipment safety.
  • Ensure thorough familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems, as well as the medical flight team's comfort and familiarity with the medical interior and systems.
  • Complete required documentation and participate in flight planning with attention to detail.
  • Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.
Requirements
  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must have flown in category for a commercial operator or in the military within the previous 24 months.
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public, striving to maintain a friendly and professional working environment.
  • Instrument Flight rules (IFR) Program requirements: 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 hours in category, 1000 hours PIC in category, 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 100 hours of night flight time, 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time, and 20 hours in actual instrument conditions in category.
  • Commercial & Instrument Rating (for category and class of aircraft), ATP rating in category, and First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.
