Key Responsibilities- Strategy formulation and implementation
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the Florida Region vision and strategy
- Support the overall process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure the organisation maximises its short, medium, and long-term profitability and returns
- Liaise with other regional leaders on the implementation of the regional strategic and operational plans
- Develop, review, and report on the operations division's strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the heads of Region
- Lead the integration project of regional systems, policies, and procedures with those of Corporate in a three-year strategic plan timeframe
- Develop the three lines of defense model within the Region, strengthening the first line of defense in business and operational areas and enhancing the scope and frequency of reviews at the regional second line of defense
- Effectively drive the regional operational and internal control framework
- Strategically define regional operational plan to achieve Corporate critical milestones
- Lead tactical implementation of processes to achieve established goals and objectives
- Design, establish, and monitor metrics (KPI's) and scorecards to monitor performance
- Reviews and analyses data and metrics on productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, and excellence
- Delivers sustainable results through root cause analysis, identification of gaps or business and operational needs, assessment, implementation of solutions, and restructuring of processes
- Designs the appropriate policies, procedures, and internal control framework considering strategies, productivity, best practices, risk management, regulatory compliance, SOX, and financial controls framework
- Oversees, monitors, and ensures established framework is implemented and operates effectively
- Leads a cross-functional team, prioritising and coordinating their objectives and work plans as follows:
- Human Resources – Leads the integration of human resources processes and systems to those at Corporate. Ensures effective processes are in place supporting the regional talent selection process, alignment of talents and skills to organisational needs, maintenance of high performance and high engagement levels, effective communication across the operation, organisational culture, and change management awareness and/or transitioning initiatives, assurance that timely and assertive performance management processes and talent development plans are in place and operating effectively
- Loan Operations – Ensures loan servicing is managed according to operational and regulatory standards
- Deposits Operations – Ensure deposits operations is managed according to operational and regulatory standards
- Project Management – Leads the project management team in charge of innovation tied to new systems and processes implementation within the region
- Regional Quality – Leads the regional second line of defence monitoring the quality of all regional operations
- Ensure that the operations functions of the company are run effectively and efficiently so that each operational division performs in terms with their strategic plan, developmental plan, and operational plan objectives
- Maintain the administration, monitoring, reporting, communication, budget, and liaison on all regional operations and control matters
- Implement, maintain, and manage an effective system of controls throughout the company, covering non-financial as well as financial controls
- Ensure that operating objectives and standards of performance are owned by management as well as employees
- Ensure that appropriate standards of conduct are established and complied with
- Presents an annual Budget for areas under management
- Governance guidelines, management, monitoring, reporting, and communication in regard to financial and physical resources, administration, and budgeting
- Maintain and develop organisational culture, values, and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners, and regulatory/official bodies
- Builds and leads an effective and cohesive management team
- In consultation with HR, implements effective succession planning, people management, development, recruitment, and retention strategies for the division
- Manages the performance of all heads of Region within the division through the formal performance management system
- Promotion of employment equity and transformation
- Self-development and continuing personal development
- Ensures policies and procedures within the Region are maintained up to date. Monitors and supervises the continued review of the policies and procedures of the REGION and ensures its compliance within the unit
- Ensures follows up on completion of new product programs and annual review of existing product programs. Assists the Regional Executive in the preparation of deliverables and requirements for regulatory, internal, and external auditors
- Keeps track of open regulatory and audit regional matters. Assists the Regional Executive in budget management and business rationalisation initiatives. Monitors Vendor management for the REGION
- Implementation of Automated Software for the Special Assets Group Workflow
- Assists the REGION in the standardisation of the Puerto Rico and Florida activities
- Assists the Regional Executive in technical and administrative aspects of special transactions and/or projects in which the intervention is required
- Assists the Regional Executive in the strategic alignment of the REGION's mission with that of the Corporation's
- Ensures standardised reporting formats for all units within management. Establishment of a continuous monitoring methodology for activities within the REGION
- Develops, implements, and monitors policies, procedures, and scorecards for the effective operation of the region. Reports variances to the Regional Executive
- Coordinates the submission of REGION reports to be presented to Corporate as it relates to areas managed
The Operations Director may also perform the responsibilities below:
- Other tasks as requested by the Regional Executive
This position is a key member of the regional management team. An in-depth knowledge of operational practices is required. This position comes in contact with many different personalities and types of people.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- CPA Certification required. Advanced degree preferred
- Ten years of experience in an operations, accounting, and/or project management related field is required. 5 years of which must be operations management experience. Of the 10 years experience, at least 3 years must have been spent in a senior management role
