Job Description

Ryder is seeking a skilled Senior Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Montpelier, VT. As a key member of our Truck Fleet team, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics and repairs, and complex mechanical inspections and repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools
  • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay: $34.50 per hour
  • Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700
  • Quarterly bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter - four times per year
  • Sign-on bonus: Ryder pays $1750 at 30 days and $1750 at 90 days
  • Four 10-hour days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday
  • Second shift: Sunday 10:00am - 8:00pm, Monday, Tuesday, Friday 12:00pm - 10:00pm
