Job Title: Pastry Cook

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team at Bern's Steak House. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for operating the pastry section of the kitchen, working closely with the Pastry Management Team to create high-quality pastry dishes that meet our standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a wide variety of pastry goods, including cakes, cookies, pies, and bread, following our standard recipes.
  • Ensure excellent quality throughout our dessert offerings, maintaining the highest standards of presentation and taste.
  • Follow proper handling and storage procedures for all food products, maintaining the right temperature and quality throughout the shift.
  • Decorate pastries and desserts using different types of icings, toppings, and other creative techniques to make our desserts visually appealing.
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that our standards are met.
  • Report any equipment problems, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to your supervisor immediately.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and participate in team discussions.
  • Work a variety of shifts, including weekends, days, nights, and holidays, as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and 1 year of experience in the pastry, food and beverage, or related professional area.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with co-workers efficiently and effectively.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Ability to operate and maintain all department equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including food hygiene and Health and Safety standards.
  • Professional disposition with good communication and interpersonal skills.
