Job Summary:
The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's Chemical Engineering Department is in search of a Financial Analyst. This role will serve as a crucial resource in ensuring precision, compliance, and accountability while providing fiscal guidance to faculty and administrative personnel within the Chemical Engineering Department. The individual will execute professional financial responsibilities to manage and document the allocation of all resources within the designated area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, review, and oversee expense reports, invoices, purchase requisitions, and other transactions for the department in accordance with approved budgets and institutional policies.
  • Compile and review financial statements and reports, providing recommendations to enhance internal controls and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial data by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Prepare and document entries related to assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses by analyzing account information.
  • Determine the appropriate handling of financial transactions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and authorize within established limits.
  • Generate budget reports, departmental allocation reports, and other specialized analyses on a regular or as-needed basis.
  • Investigate and rectify discrepancies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Maintain effective communication with various central departments regarding accounting and financial information.
  • May assist with payroll, personnel actions, or similar processes.
  • May support faculty with financial analysis related to contracts or grants.
Minimum Qualifications:
Level I: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a degree in another discipline accompanied by a CPA.
Level II: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a degree in another discipline accompanied by a CPA, plus 2 years of relevant experience.
Level III: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a degree in another discipline accompanied by a CPA, plus 4 years of relevant experience.

Essential Skills:
Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong planning and execution abilities; highly organized with effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience in higher education settings. Familiarity with university accounting practices and experience with financial systems such as Banner.

Salary Range: $40,000 - $82,800
