Job Summary

This position is a key member of the dental team at the Nisqually Indian Tribe, responsible for providing routine and advanced prophylactic and therapeutic dental hygiene care to patients. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with children and individuals with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform periodontal exams, periodontal treatment, prophylaxis, and therapeutic procedures to maintain patients' oral health.
  • Develop and implement individual dental care plans to address patients' specific needs.
  • Provide preventive procedures, including sealants and fluoride applications, and prescribed treatments.
  • Assist the dentist during patient procedures and maintain current training in Electronic Health Record systems.
  • Record exam findings and maintain patient records accurately and efficiently.
  • Develop and participate in community education and prevention programs to promote oral health awareness.
  • Maintain the dental clinic to current standards of sterilization and infection control, adhering to HIPAA and related confidentiality rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program.
  • 1-2 years' experience working in a dental clinic, preferably in tribal or public health settings.
  • Valid license to practice dental hygiene in Washington State without restrictions.
  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and insurability under the Tribe's insurance policy.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 3 months of hire.
