Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Energy Engineer to join our team as an Energy Modeling Frameworks Specialist. This role will involve working on the development and maintenance of energy models using IRP modeling software, conducting simulations to assess the impact of various scenarios on power system operations and performance, and analyzing complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain energy models using IRP modeling software (e.g., PLEXOS, Aurora, Strategist, SERVM)
  • Conduct simulations to assess the impact of various scenarios on power system operations and performance
  • Analyze complex datasets using advanced tools such as Python, R, or SQL to extract actionable insights and support decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to energy systems and power markets
  • Monitor changes in regulatory frameworks and assess their potential impact on modeling and planning processes
  • Prepare and review documentation to support regulatory filings and compliance reports
Requirements
  • BS/BA Degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, information technology, mathematics, physics or similar quantitative field
  • Eight (8) years related business experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with demonstrated comparable knowledge and abilities
  • Knowledge of principles of economic unit commitment/dispatch, wholesale market operations and the functional and economic characteristics of Company power resources and the interconnected system is desired
  • Working knowledge of power/energy/gas markets including contracts, and utilization within a power plant
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills
  • Ability to lead teams in evaluations and implementation of solutions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of natural gas markets including contracts, and utilization within a power plant
  • Ability to work with key internal and external stakeholders and all levels of management
  • High level of proficient computer skills including a thorough knowledge of a commonly used industry programming language to modify large data sets and extensive experience in the applied use of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Access, and Word
