Role Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides essential clinical support to patients undergoing examinations and treatments in an outpatient environment, working under the guidance of the attending healthcare provider and practice management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' overall health status and record vital signs.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, diagnostic tests, and treatment procedures.
- Train and orient new staff members as necessary.
- Deliver basic patient care as directed.
- Ensure timely communication of test results to patients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions, treatments, and medications in medical records.
- Promote patient wellness through educational resources and clear communication of provider instructions.
- Assess urgency of patient inquiries and manage appointment scheduling accordingly.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Oversee the accuracy of patient medical records and maintain required documentation.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding patient and practice information.
- Utilize various medical and office equipment proficiently.
- Ensure a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Perform referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
- Facilitate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and care team members.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
While specific educational qualifications are not mandated, candidates must meet the criteria for the necessary licensure or certification.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required, with a preference for candidates with neurology experience.
Licensure:
Candidates must possess a valid LPN/LVN license or hold a recognized medical assistant certification. CPR certification is also required.
