Essential Job Functions

Role Overview:

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of accounting tasks throughout the fiscal year. Your duties will include the establishment and upkeep of financial records, classification of income and expenditure transactions, journal entries, trial balance preparation, and adjustments for closing periods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews and execute diverse accounting assignments within the annual financial cycle.
  • Interpret financial laws, regulations, and standards, providing recommendations for compliance.
  • Perform cost analysis, revenue assessments, and procedural studies, compiling detailed reports of findings.
  • Compile and reconcile complex financial statements, ensuring accuracy in project accounting and reimbursement claims.
  • Prepare specialized financial reports, including balance sheets and revenue statements.
  • Conduct routine audits of financial records for various organizations, drafting audit reports and suggesting improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Analyze cost accounting systems, recommending enhancements for reliability and accuracy.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments regarding accounting matters.
  • Oversee the implementation of accounting systems and procedures.
  • Supervise a small team of accounting staff as required.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

We seek individuals with:
  • 21 semester or 32 quarter units of accounting from an accredited institution, including at least two advanced accounting courses.
AND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • OPTION I: One year of entry-level accounting or auditing experience.
OR
  • OPTION II: Two years of technical accounting experience.

Special Requirements:
Applicants must submit official transcripts to verify educational qualifications.

License: A valid California Class C Driver's License or alternative transportation method is required for job-related functions.

Physical Expectations: Light physical effort may be required, including occasional lifting and mobility.
