Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Activities Assistant to join our team at The Cove at Marsh Landing. As an Activities Assistant, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging activities and programs for our residents, promoting a sense of community and socialization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a monthly activity calendar that meets the diverse interests and needs of our residents
  • Collaborate with residents, families, and staff to plan and execute special events and activities
  • Provide transportation and supervision for residents on outings and shopping trips
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support activities and programs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents
  • Provide training and guidance to staff to meet established performance standards and expectations
  • Act as facilitator and take minutes at resident council meetings
  • Follow up on concerns voiced at resident council meetings and provide resolution
  • Observe and report changes in resident health and emotional condition to supervisor
  • Demonstrate ability to set and manage priorities
  • Respond promptly and courteously to resident requests for assistance
  • Communicate effectively with residents in a language they can understand
  • Report safety hazards immediately to supervisor
  • Practice good body mechanics and safe working habits
  • Know and follow established policies and procedures in emergency situations
  • Be available to work as essential personnel during emergencies and inclement weather
  • Work collaboratively with other associates and management to accomplish work assignments
  • Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude towards work issues, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude towards residents, families, visitors, associates, and management
  • Comply with attendance and call-off policy
  • Attend and participate in trainings, in-service, and mandatory meetings
  • Wear clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy
  • Refrain from discussing resident care issues with families and visitors and refer all inquiries to supervisor
  • Enhance and improve the SRI experience by providing zestful activities for residents
  • Demonstrate and promote SRI's core value of the golden rule
  • Treat others with the same respect and kindness we would like to receive
  • Know and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist in mentoring new employees
  • Take the initiative in work, seek out additional information, offer solutions, and suggestions
  • Take on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living when needed
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned or requested
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
