Job Title: Senior Manager, Hardware NPI

Aurora Innovation is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Hardware NPI to lead our Hardware NPI engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing planning, coordination, and execution of HW NPI engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively schedule meetings or discussions with cross-functional partners to help unblock the engineering teams for manufacturing readiness.
  • Act as a main representative between manufacturing and the development teams regarding all items related to product development and CM and internal manufacturing.
  • Track and communicate manufacturing items/documentation for our OEMs and customers.
  • Drive all activities with each Hardware product for manufacturing readiness, provide risk assessments, and mitigation plans for each product.
  • Manage, train, and develop a team of Hardware process and product engineers.
  • Support all activities for manufacturing Change Control Board for Hardware products from B sample on, and manage all change request schedule/execution from a technical point of view.
  • Work closely with supply chain management to establish timely execution of GSM tasks.
  • Provide budget forecasts for Hardware NPI engineering team.
Requirements:
  • 10-15+ years of applicable experience.
  • Experience managing NPI engineering teams in short schedule development cycles.
  • Experience with developing safety-critical hardware, bonus points for experience in robotics, automotive, or the aerospace/defense industry.
  • Experience with launching new hardware products to market and managing hardware product life cycles.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with task management tools such as Jira/Jira Tools, and Confluence.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • MS degree.
  • 10+ years of experience managing MFG/NPI engineering teams and development programs.
  • Experience in a safety-critical hardware industry (aerospace/defense, automotive, medical devices, etc).
  • Experience with the full product lifecycle (including development, verification, and market introduction).
  • Experience with AV or robotics.
  • Experience and familiarity with the Agile development methodology (no certification is required).
