Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist Extern to join our team at Memorial Healthcare System. As a Surgical Technologist Extern, you will play a critical role in supporting our clinical team in the operating room and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in pre-operative procedures, including assembly and selection of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prepare for next cases by reading preference cards and applying basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Handle turnover of the operating room in a timely manner, including tearing down cases and disposing of sharp and contaminated items in accordance with policy.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field for use during surgical procedures.
  • Assist with gowning, gloving, and draping, as well as passing instruments and performing counts according to hospital policy.
  • Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited surgical technologist program, subject to adequate document submission and verification.
