SPL Laboratory Technician I - Energy Job Description

Job Summary:

SPL is seeking a Laboratory Technician I - Energy in Houston, TX. This role requires a team-oriented, proactive, and goal-driven individual to perform laboratory analyses under the supervision of the laboratory manager/supervisor.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare data and reports for review by senior personnel;
  • Develop a working knowledge of chemistry and industry terminology;
  • Perform routine maintenance for all SPL equipment, including PC, scanners, instrumentation, parts, fittings, and sample cylinders;
  • Conduct sample and QC analyses as specified by the test method, ensuring accurate documentation and recording;
  • Review and interpret results to verify data accuracy and reasonableness;
  • Perform analytical calculations for reporting data into LIMS;
  • Compare current data with historical data in LIMS to identify problem samples and notify clients as necessary;
  • Perform instrumentation calibrations and basic troubleshooting as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Some laboratory experience is preferred;
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required;
Education:

A High School Diploma or GED is required. An Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or other science is preferred.

Work Schedule:

This position will work 8 hours Monday-Friday in SPL's Houston, TX location. Overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
