Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Management Analyst III to join our team at Fairfax County. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing the Fire and Rescue Department's Communications Section, including its three branches: McConnell Public Safety and Transportation Operations Center (MPSTOC), Field Communications, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD).

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Establish goals, objectives, and priorities for the Communications Section; coordinate program implementation and facilitate processes to achieve program outcomes and milestones.
  • Financial Management: Manage the section's budget preparation, analyze budget projections, and direct strategic planning goals and objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train staff, lead assigned employees, and delegate and review work assignments.
  • Communication: Provide guidance, recommendations, and advice to departmental managers; write, edit, and finalize reports and presentations.
  • Collaboration: Serve on committees, task forces, and management teams to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing management/administrative systems.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field related to the assigned functional area.
  • Experience: Four years of professional work experience within the functional area.
  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and abilities, strong project management skills, and experience managing a budget.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in English and a foreign language.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with local government purchasing and procurement, and ability to use word processing and presentation software.
Working Conditions

The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Ability to carry large/bulky equipment, good eyesight, and proper protective clothing are necessary. Must be able to drive a county vehicle.
