KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform inspections of food manufacturing facilities.
  • Verify compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
  • Inspect food products and ingredients for contamination or regulatory breaches.
  • Monitor hygiene and sanitation practices in food preparation and handling environments.
  • Document and report violations, health risks, and safety issues.
  • Review food labeling for compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide education and guidance to food industry staff regarding safety protocols and best practices.
  • Compile detailed reports of inspection results and suggest corrective measures.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure previous violations have been rectified.
  • Stay informed about updates in food safety legislation and industry trends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related field.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in food science, biology, microbiology, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Certification as a Food Safety Professional is advantageous.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations, including federal, state, and local laws (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP).
  • Expertise in conducting thorough inspections and audits of food processing and handling facilities.
  • Ability to enforce quality control standards and measures effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment necessary for food inspection and sampling.
