Position Overview:

The Senior Cybersecurity Risk Consultant will play a pivotal role within the Technology Risk Management division, focusing on a national initiative for Medical Device and IoT Cybersecurity. This role is essential in guiding the clinical healthcare technology sector through the complexities of the cyber and regulatory environment, ensuring alignment with critical frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, HIPAA, and FDA cybersecurity guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive cyber risk evaluations for medical devices to assess compliance with NIST Controls, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Lead end-to-end cyber risk assessments, including scoping, planning, fieldwork, and reporting of findings and recommendations.
  • Provide expert advice on the design of Cyber Risk Controls, risk mitigation strategies, and compensating controls.
  • Consult on the establishment of Medical Device Cybersecurity Controls baselines and hardening protocols across various device categories.
  • Evaluate cybersecurity tools associated with the Medical Device program, including Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM).
  • Guide the integration of security practices into the corporate medical device security framework, ensuring alignment with NIST and HIPAA standards.
  • Map IT Risk processes to Medical Device Cyber Risk processes, including workflows and documentation.
  • Offer advisory support to Medical Device cybersecurity practitioners on effective risk assessment methodologies and control frameworks.
  • Set clear expectations with stakeholders regarding the assessment process, including scope, planning, and reporting.
  • Draft clear and concise Cyber Risk Assessment documentation, including reports and remediation plans.
  • Communicate effectively with Clinical Healthcare Technology Managers, delivering information that is clear and actionable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience (5+ years).
  • Minimum of 5 years in IT Audit, Risk Management, or Cybersecurity Risk Assessment.
  • Preferred certifications: CISA, CISM, or CISSP.
  • Experience in IoT and Medical Device Cybersecurity, particularly with patient monitoring and wearable devices.
  • Familiarity with risk and control frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53 and HITRUST.
  • Understanding of HIPAA Security regulations and FDA cybersecurity guidance.
  • Ability to lead comprehensive cyber risk assessments and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to independently research new topics.
