Job Summary:

Roanoke County Public Schools is seeking a Part-Time Non-CDL Driver to operate a county vehicle according to a set daily schedule. The successful candidate will ensure the vehicle is in good operating condition, pick up and drop off students as per the schedule, and maintain order and security in the vehicle. The Non-CDL Driver is responsible for safely operating the vehicle and must comply with all laws, regulations, and rules of conduct.

Responsibilities:
Operate the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
Clean the vehicle and ensure it is safely and securely stored
Advise the garage of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
Maintain schedules and maintain order on the vehicle
Pick up and deliver students as per a set schedule
Ensure students are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers
Maintain order and discipline on the vehicle
Make note of any behavioral or disciplinary problems
Practice confidentiality at all times
Maintain an attitude of mutual respect and courtesy
Communicate effectively orally and in writing
React positively to constructive criticism and suggestions
Demonstrate initiative and motivation
Work independently or collaboratively with others in a wide variety of circumstances
Establish professional relationships and communicate effectively
Demonstrate good safety habits and response to emergency situations
Exercise sound judgment in decision making
Prepare and present clear and concise correspondence, complex reports, and policy recommendations
Organize conflicting work priorities while coordinating multiple projects and deadlines

Perform multiple, highly complex technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions
Possess strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office

Requirements:
The Non-CDL Driver must have a valid Virginia Driver's License and undergo a Criminal Records Check. A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is also required, as well as 5 years of valid driving experience and personal or professional experience with basic childcare. The successful candidate must be able to comply with a background check and have good verbal communication skills and visual ability to observe children.
