Job Summary:

The Roanoke County Public Schools is seeking a qualified Part-Time Non-CDL Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for safely operating a county vehicle, ensuring the vehicle is in good condition, and maintaining order and security in the vehicle.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Clean the vehicle and ensure it is safely and securely stored.
  • Advise the garage of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintain schedules and maintain order on the vehicle.
  • Pick up and deliver students as per a set schedule.
  • Ensure students are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers.
  • Maintain order and discipline on the vehicle.
  • Make note of any behavioral or disciplinary problems.
  • Practice confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain an attitude of mutual respect and courtesy.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • React positively to constructive criticism and suggestions.
  • Demonstrate initiative and motivation.
  • Work independently or collaboratively with others in a wide variety of circumstances.

  • Possess strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Requirements:
  • A valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Personal or professional experience with basic childcare.
  • Ability to comply with a background check as required.
  • Good verbal communication skills and visual ability to observe children.
  • Ability to fulfill responsibilities under pressure, including during emergencies.
