Job Summary:

The Senior Kitchen Steward oversees and guides the stewarding team members within the Culinary Group. This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, instruction, and education of team members, ensuring the sanitation and cleanliness of all kitchen and food preparation areas, small wares, and equipment. The Senior Steward collaborates with the Sanitation Supervisor and Culinary leadership to meet all health, safety, and third-party audit standards. The Senior Kitchen Steward is expected to be disciplined, motivated, and organized in managing work responsibilities. Availability for evening and weekend events is required based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and guarantee the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, including walk-in coolers, floors, walls, rolling equipment, kitchen tools, small wares, china, glass, and silverware, hot boxes, and rolling racks.
  • Oversee the removal of waste and recyclables from kitchen and food preparation areas, ensuring proper disposal in designated venues.
  • Manage, direct, and schedule the work activities of stewarding team members.
  • Provide training, coaching, and leadership in sanitation protocols, proper chemical usage, and best practices.
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, performance appraisal, and progressive counseling/coaching.
  • Train for safety compliance, operational procedures, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, professional, and respectful manner, fostering a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
  • Frequent reaching, lifting, stooping, bending, and cleaning to maintain the work area.
  • Ability to walk and stand for the duration of the shift.
