Position Summary:
The role of a Deburr Operator involves the essential task of refining machined metal products by eliminating imperfections known as burrs. This process is crucial for ensuring that metal parts are smooth and reliable after machining or welding. The position operates under moderate supervision and is responsible for edge deburring, graining, tumbling, and cleaning of sheet metal or machined components produced at our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform edge deburring and tumbling of parts according to customer specifications and company standards.
- Apply both cosmetic and non-cosmetic finishes to sheet metal, which may include setting up and operating finishing equipment.
- Follow priorities assigned by the Deburr Lead to ensure efficient workflow.
- Handle and stack parts properly to maintain quality and safety.
- Verify finished processes and maintain accurate counts of parts.
- Keep the deburring and finishing areas clean and organized.
- Notify the Deburr Lead regarding low inventory of abrasives.
- Provide guidance and training to Deburr Operator Trainees as needed.
- Assist in breaking material out of blanks when required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 months experience in sheet metal or machining deburring or a closely related field.
- No specific certificates or licenses required.
- Familiarity with hand and powered deburring tools, including files, air grinders, oscillating sanders, and tumblers.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions for tool usage and understand operational requirements.
