Overview

Caregiver, Inc. is a leading provider of services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Texas. We are seeking a Direct Support Professional Floater to join our team and support individuals with IDD in leading their best lives.

Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional Floater will provide direct daily support, education, and transportation to clients with IDD in a supported living home or community-based setting. This role requires a strong ability to interact successfully with special client needs, demonstrate organizational and decision-making skills, and maintain accurate documentation of daily client activities and observations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to consumers served by the agency.
  • Offer emotional support to consumers and their families.
  • Follow directions of the RSD to meet the consumer's service needs.
  • Prepare healthy, well-balanced meals and specific physician-ordered diets.
  • Complete required in-service hours to maintain active status.
  • Document services provided and submit paperwork within specified time frames.
  • Provide homemaker services if specified in the consumer's Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Demonstrate reliability, timeliness, and responsibility while caring for consumers.
  • Be available to cover shifts when contacted.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments without physical limitations.
Qualifications and Education
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Texas Driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • One-year prior experience working in a group home setting with IDD individuals preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with special client needs.
  • Demonstrated organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of Universal Precautions, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Knowledge of proper personal hygiene practices.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding aspects of the job.
  • Ability to complete required documentation.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and occasional overtime.
