Members of the OMA department are tasked with delivering comprehensive bookkeeping and accounting services to our diverse clientele. This role merges accounting responsibilities with technology utilization and client relationship development. We are interested in current college students or recent graduates eager to embark on a career in public accounting. This position provides the chance to work within a CPA firm equipped with excellent resources to serve a wide range of clients, from startups to established businesses across various sectors, while being an integral part of their Finance Team.
This role is also ideal for candidates with recent public accounting experience in audit or tax who wish to transition from compliance-focused roles, while still enjoying the diversity and variety that client service offers. Additionally, it suits individuals from industry backgrounds who appreciate all facets of the accounting cycle but seek more dynamic challenges than those typically found in private accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute a range of accounting functions while acquiring knowledge and experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and technology.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or a willingness to learn.
- Prepare workpapers to substantiate account balances.
- Conduct month-end closings, including reconciliations and necessary adjusting journal entries.
- Generate Financial and Management level reports.
- Engage in the preparation of financial reports to facilitate budget-to-actual analysis, KPIs, and trends essential for business decision-making.
- Interact regularly with clients to foster relationships with leadership and accounting teams.
- Participate in advisory services for our clients.
- Demonstrate a passion for learning and adapting to new technological platforms.
- Pursuing or holding a BS in Accountancy or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to engage with various levels of firm management and external clients effectively.
- Proficient in balancing multiple priorities and clients with regular deliverables.
- Commitment to compliance and confidentiality.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to manage workload flexibly, especially during peak periods.
- Comfortable operating in a technology-driven, paperless office environment.
The characteristics of the work environment and physical demands associated with this role include:
- Office setting, with occasional travel to other firm locations.
