Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Audio Training Editor to join our team at KQED. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading training sessions for journalists across the state, with a focus on audio content creation and editing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training curricula for audio content creation and editing
  • Provide support and guidance to editors, producers, and reporters on audio content best practices
  • Collaborate with newsroom leaders to advance the goals of the California Newsroom
  • Work with teams of journalists to produce high-quality audio content
  • Ensure that audio content meets KQED's standards and guidelines
Requirements
  • Experience in broadcast media as a trainer, editor, reporter, and/or producer
  • Expertise in audio editing systems, including Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Audacity, and Descript
  • Demonstrated ability to create and lead training sessions for all levels of experience
  • Demonstrated skill in radio news scriptwriting
  • Knowledge of public media audio standards and practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Non-English language skills (fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, or other widely spoken languages in California)
  • Experience with basic HTML
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience using social media tools and platforms to maximize reach and impact
