Job Summary:
The Charge Nurse functions under the direction and supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and assumes responsibility for the hospital. The house supervisor, in collaboration with the CNO and leadership team, assists in implementing, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, including regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assure the provision of safe and effective patient care after hours, on weekends, and on holidays.
- Directly supervise nurses and ensure the implementation of hospital goals and objectives based on budget parameters.
- Reinforce the mission and vision of the hospital in all interactions.
- Ensure the nursing department staff performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
- Ensure the occurrence of appropriate documentation, including documentation of medical necessity, by staff in medical records.
- Monitor completion and revisions to the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
- Promote rehabilitation nursing philosophy.
- Manage staffing plans, nursing hours per patient day, and quality of work of nursing staff.
- Ensure limited agency usage and overtime hours by managing and monitoring the nursing schedule.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program, bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current unrestricted licensure in the state.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support required.
- Current Advance Cardiac Life Support required.
- Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) required.
- Minimum of two years of previous nursing management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate, and direct activities of clinical personnel.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, in English, with additional languages preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills required.
- Demonstrates problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
