Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit team. As a key member of our care delivery team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch nursing care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
  • Apply the nursing process to create a healing environment and formulate daily goals and care plans for patients.
  • Use critical thinking to identify clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Negotiate and recommend changes in patient care and unit practices to improve patient outcomes.
  • Ensure comprehensive patient documentation to promote communication between caregivers.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practices to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Create a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships.
  • Relationships and Communication:
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, executives, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleagues.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills for providing care and interacting with patients of various ages.
  • Understand principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
  • Assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with:

  • Other departments

  • Work productively and effectively in a complex environment.
  • Handle multiple and changing priorities and specialized equipment.

  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
  • UPMC approved national certification preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
