Work Schedule:
This role is structured for a Monday through Friday daytime schedule, with occasional rotations for weekends and holidays.
Role and Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse is an integral part of the healthcare delivery team, tasked with establishing and upholding the standards for the quality of care provided. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and delivering patient care for a designated group of patients and their families, utilizing independent judgment and fostering collaboration with all team members.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to ensure optimal patient outcomes throughout the care continuum.
- Demonstrating a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.
Key Duties:
- Fostering productive working relationships by exhibiting accountability, enthusiasm, and dedication to both patients and colleagues.
- Understanding and respecting cultural differences while promoting healthy relationships among peers.
- Maintaining a balance between professional responsibilities and personal life.

- Applying adult learning principles in educating patients, families, and new staff.
- Providing comprehensive teaching to patients and families to guide them through their care journey.
- Creating an environment that encourages open dialogue and continuous improvement.

- Utilizing critical thinking to identify and address clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues.
- Ensuring thorough documentation that enhances communication among caregivers.
- Incorporating national professional standards and organizational goals to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
- Engaging in shared governance and supporting initiatives aimed at improving care quality.
- Participating in quality improvement efforts and identifying opportunities for enhancement.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a minimum of six months of nursing experience, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders, including executives, managers, and patients, is essential. Candidates must demonstrate effective clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills relevant to patient care.
Licensure and Certifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse is required, along with CPR certification based on AHA standards. UPMC encourages candidates with national certification to apply.
